Lizzie Armitstead (Boels Dolmans Cycling Team) won the Philly classic in a sprint to the line beating Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle Honda) with Alena Amialiusik (Velocio – SRAM) finishing third, one second back. It was Armitstead’s second win in the Women’s World Cup after winning the Trofeo Alfredo Binda in March.
The Philadelphia International Cycling Classic was the sixth round of the UCI Womens World Cup featuring 19 teams, and was run on a tough 115km course featuring a 19.8km circuit finishing on the feared Manayunk Wall with gradients over 15 percent.
