Shimano has announced hydraulic disc brakes will be available from July for it’s 10 speed road groupset, Shimano Tiagra 4700. Tiagra was updated last year to include a similar four arm crank design found in Shimano’s top tier groupsets Dura-Ace, Ultegra and 105 as well as updated shifters. Now it’s the turn of hydraulic disc brakes to trickle down to Tiagra.
The Shimano Tiagra Hydraulic Disc Brakes will feature an all new shifter design including Vivid Index technology, (ST-RS405), and new flat mount calipers (BR-RS405) but will use Shimano’s existing 140mm and 160mm Ice Tech rotors (SM-RT81-SS/SM-RT81-S) from the 105 hydraulic disc brakes announced last year.

The new Dura-Ace 9100 groupset will have a new hydraulic disc brake system as part of the release and will mean all top five groupsets in the Shimano range will have a disc brake option.
The Shimano Tiagra Hydraulic Disc Brakes will be available from July and pricing has yet to be set. Component weights were not supplied.
