Swiss wheel manufacturer DT Swiss have announced a new wheelset named DT Swiss PR 1400 DICUT OXiC and it features a new high performance ceramic coating named, OXiC. OXiC is a ceramic coating that is electrochemically applied to the rim surface, making it extremely hard and wear resistant.

The OXiC process achieves a high end looking, matte black finish which also guarantees the highest level of brake performance while reducing wear on the rim to the absolute minimum.

What does that mean for the rider? Well the OXiC coating is harder than other materials like aluminium, steel and sand so particles picked up by brake pads will not wear through the coating, the OXiC process will last the “normal lifespan of a wheel”. You can read more about the DT Swiss OXiC technology here.

The DT Swiss PR 1400 DICUT OXiC Wheelset weighs in at a light weight 1,435 grams with the front wheel weighing 635 grams and the rear wheel 800 grams. The rim height of 21mm, rim width of 21.5mm with an internal width of 18mm and are tubeless ready. Spokes are DT aero comp with 20 front spokes and 24 rear spokes, and the wheels have a maximum system weight (rider and bike) of 110 kg.

The spokes and hubs also have the same matt black colour as the OXiC coated rims making a very stealthy looking wheelset.

The wheels require special brake pads because of the OXic coating so there are DT Swiss OXiC brake pads included. RWS skewers are also included.

The DT Swiss PR 1400 wheels will be available within a few weeks, you can check out DTSwiss.com for further information and updates.
