At last weeks Eurobike, Stages announced their first GPS cycling training computer and a cloud based training platform. The Stages Dash computer and Stages Link training platform are scheduled for release during Q1 2017 and both contain innovative new features for riders.

Here’s a quick look at both.

Stages Dash cycling computer

Key differences between the Stages Link and other GPS bike computers are that it can be used in both portrait and landscape mode, and the Dash supports a massive 16 possible data fields that are fully customizable in size, number and function and also with different activity and bike profiles.

In addition to the landscape and portrait capabilities the Stages Dash also has a split screen feature that lets you keep one half of the screen static for some metrics, while you can page the other half of the screen through various other metrics.

Structured workouts are supported by the Dash as well as trainer control via ANT+ FE-C. The Dash has extensive lap history chart screens in addition to live lap data.

The Dash records from both ANT+ and Bluetooth sensors and at recording rates of 4hz or 64hz, there’s WiFi, a high contrast monochromatic display (no touchscreen), Glonass GPS and barometric altimeter, IPX7 weather resistance and battery life is expected to be well in excess of 24 hours.

Mapping is simple breadcrumb and it’s unclear whether smart notifications, live tracking and Strava Live segments will be incorporated. The focus of the Stages Dash is really about the data.

The Stages Dash records ride data in a proprietary .stages format but .fit files are available for download via the Stages Link platform.

Priced at US$399/€399 the Stages Dash will be available early in 2017, we’ll update more details as they are available.
